I am not a spokesman for any Mormon, but i was one at one time so i know quite a bit about them. I know they are kind hearted individuals who love everyone around them and see others in the world as their brothers and sisters. They hold true to their convictions as to what they know is right in the face of any danger or threat that may challenge their beliefs. They love their country and will kill in the name of freedom. They are a very proud and young religion and so it is parallel to America as it was formed around the same time frame America was in it's early stages. It has grown with America, played a significant role in forming America and is still playing a pioneer role in forming America. They are spectacular people with good ethics and morale laws. They reach out to the world in humanitarian aid and seek peace around the world. They have helped the nation to form many great alliances with other nations through humanitarian aid. They are beautiful.
However, there is one issue that just might be the most controversial issue in Mormonism. This issue has to do with war. The question is, why are most Mormons republicans? The Book of Mormon which is read repeatedly by Mormons hold the answers. In the first section of the BofM it talks of Nephi; as a young prophet of god where it tells of him and his families journeys as they were commanded by God to leave Jerusalem, because it was going to be destroyed and Nephi and his family were to be lead to the America's. The people were wicked and so there fore it was time for Jerusalem to be destroyed; as is the theme through out the whole Book of Mormon. Nephi, before he dies, sees in a vision the destruction of his people (The Nephites) by the hands of the Lamanites (Nephi's brother's decedents whose name was Lamand.) The Nephites were righteous because they stuck to Mose's law and looked forward to Christ's coming. Lamanites evil and sought domination and power. The Lamanites sought domination and power much like terrorist seek it today through terror. There are many war heroes in the BofM. These war Heroes are praised by Mormons. Some of these war heroes were actually prophets. There is a prophet today in their church as well. I suppose the BofM underlines the hard reality of war and where God plays a role in it then as well as today. It shows the moral codes in war. It truly could be a morale guide to war for America.
So, given this moral code of war why then do they agree with Bush? When Sept. 11th happened that was the Mormon call for the end of the world. These are the last days for the Mormons. In the Mormon's heads they must last and will last as America falls around them. They don't care about the unbelievers. They care about their own and they are trying as hard as they can to save people and bring them into their fold before it is to late. The world is already gone in their minds. All those that don't believe will not be protected by them when America falls. Because Mormons believe in their prophecy so much they are willing to continue the wars around the world and bring on Armageddon as the Mormons look forward to the day of Christs return. But, before that happens there will be famine and pestilence, great earth quakes, war and rumors of war, tempest and great destruction. One has to wonder if religion hypes are good for this country. I believe man kind has allot farther to go before the end of things. Perhaps any day could be the end but we must look to tomorrow with hope and change that will benefit our children for centuries to come. I believe failure to do this would absolutely bring the end of the world. Perhaps God just wants us to get along with each other for another 200 years before he comes. Perhaps he wants us to last as long as possible and when we can go no further that will be the day. After all it has almost been 200 years since Joseph smith announced the end of days is at hand; why not aim for another 200?
